A regular guy would have dropped serious coin to rent out the Staples Center for a romantic night out.

Membership has its privileges, and when the club you're in is the elite pop star society, there isn't much you can't get your hands on. That's why a teenager like Justin Bieber was able to swing the swankiest surprise date of all time with his squeeze Selena Gomez on Friday night when he treated her to dinner and a movie at the Staples Center.
Now, before you get any ideas. The 20,000-seat home of the Los Angeles Lakers (and countless major concerts) is not available to just any Joe Schmo. No, Bieber reportedly got the keys to the palace for free because he's sold the joint out three times and owner AEG Live figured they'd throw him a bone. Which got us thinking: What would it cost to treat your sweetie to a Bieber-esque night of steak and "Titanic"?
Check out photos of Justin and Selena.
As you might imagine, the powers-that-be at Staples weren't really willing to spill the beans, but we crunched some numbers on our own and here's what we were able to figure:
$475,000: That's how much it would cost you to buy a high-end VIP luxury suite for 14 at the Staples Center, which would get you about 2,500 tickets a year to Lakers, Clippers and Sparks basketball games; L.A. Kings hockey games; concerts; lectures; X Games; and wrestling matches. Given that the venue holds 20,000, we can only imagine a one-night rental would run you well into the six figures.
$200-plus: Bieber ordered steaks and pasta from the exclusive members-only Lexus Club at Staples, a 130-capacity high-end dining area where even the buffet will run you $57.
Priceless: The lucky couple reportedly watched "Titanic" on their date. Now, most men would try to save a few bucks and rent the regular DVD, but given JB's clear baller tendencies, is it safe to assume he called James Cameron and finagled an early copy of the 3-D anniversary Blu-ray edition that is due out in April?
$299 to $1,199: The price of renting an inflatable, 32- to 40-foot portable movie screen from FunFlicks.com for a special event. That is, assuming the Biebs did not make Gomez crane her neck and watch the whole movie on the Center's Jumbotron.
194: That's how many minutes "Titanic" would run if JB didn't have a remote that would allow him and Selena to skip some of the hours of extras.
2:30 a.m.: That's about how late into the morning the couple would have had to stay at Staples in order to watch all of "Titanic," assuming they started it as soon as they arrived at 11 p.m. and had it running during their meal.
$300,000: The amount Bieber pulls in nightly at each one of his concerts.
$53 million: That's how much Bieber banked in 2010. In other words, don't sweat it: He can afford this kind of date every night of the year if he wants to.

'I've listened to their music since I was a child,' says the R&B diva, who recorded 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Whole Lotta Love.'
By James Montgomery, with reporting by Larry Carroll
You wouldn't peg Mary J Blige as the black-light-and-tapestry sort, but, as has become readily apparent in recent weeks, she absolutely loves Led Zeppelin.
In early February, reports began circulating that Blige had re-recorded Zeppelin's classic "Stairway to Heaven," working with Travis Barker, "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson and guitarist Steve Vai on the track, which is slated to appear on the international reissue of her Stronger With Each Tear album, due Monday.
But after she had recorded "Stairway," Blige continued to get the Led out, covering another Zeppelin classic — the thunderous "Whole Lotta Love" — for the album too. And when MTV News caught up with her on the Essence Black Women in Hollywood red carpet, she told us all about channeling her inner Robert Plant for the tracks, a process that came much easier than you'd probably imagine.
"I did Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Whole Lotta Love' — it's crazy," she said. "I am a Led Zeppelin fan. I'm not going to say I've been to their concerts, but I've listened to their music since I was a child, and it's always moved me, especially 'Stairway to Heaven,' and 'Whole Lotta Love' is just fun."
Blige also said she recorded another new song — a "club record" called "I Can't Wait" — for the re-release. And while it's only slated to hit shelves outside the U.S., she hopes her fans will get a chance to hear all the new songs pretty soon.
"I want y'all to hear it," she laughed.

Lovatics should gear up for a string of dates that Demi Lovato has just announced for November and December. The "Skyscraper" singer announced on Friday (October 7) that she'll hit the road for 10 U.S. dates.
The mini tour kicks off on November 16 in Detroit with stops at the Foxwoods in Connecticut; Hershey, Pennsylvania; and Kansas City; two stops in her home state of Texas; and shows in New Orleans, St. Louis and Atlanta. It wraps up on December 3 in Chicago. Tickets go on sale on October 14.
This marks Lovato's first major trek since leaving her tour with the Jonas Brothers last fall to seek treatment for personal issues. Lovato did, however, get her feet wet with two shows in Los Angeles and New York for two special dates in September, where she not only played her own tunes but also got everyone's attention with her cover of Lil Wayne's "How to Love."
Last month, Lovato dropped her album Unbroken. Since her musical re-emergence, pop's latest comeback kid has garnered tons of critical praise. She also recently teased to MTV News that she's gearing up to release her second single, "Who's That Boy." "We're in the middle of getting the treatment and things put together," Lovato said of her next music video. "So hopefully we'll be shooting that soon."
In fact, Lovato said that she's excited to try her hand at any number of projects that should come her way. "I'm looking forward to kind of just finding out what's next. I don't know what's next — if it's a movie, if it's touring, I don't know," she said. "We'll find out."
Full list of Demi Lovato tour dates:

An a cappella girl group covers Usher's hit for Nationals in next week's episode.

During this week's episode of "Glee", the gang from New Directions took a big risk when they decided they would compete in Nationals by singing their own original songs. Well, the stakes just got a little higher.
MTV News has an exclusive first listen to one of the rival groups who will go up against the McKinley High glee club in New York City during next Tuesday's (May 24) big season two finale. In the upcoming episode, an all-female a cappella group sings Usher's 2004 club and radio smash "Yeah!," which may have the Nationals judges saying just that.
Singers replace synthesizers for the four-note melody that repeats throughout the song, and lead vocalists RaVaughn Brown and Missi Hale match the high energy that Usher, Lil Jon and Ludacris brought to the track.
Granted, a few things have been tweaked in the version for the tween-friendly show, including the length (the original is over four minutes long, while the "Glee" version comes in at three and a half minutes) and the tune's instructions to "Take that and rewind it back ... got the rhythm make ya booty go."
Also, instead of Ludacris' verse, "We want a lady in the street/ And a freak in the bed," one girl sings, "You know you want a kiss on the lips, old red." The line, "Ludacris fill cups like double D's" has also been cut from the song.
But, it's not all PG. At one point in the girls' rendition of the track, they page homage to Lil Jon's crunk hit "Get Low," singing, "From the windows to the walls" and even Mystikal's booty-happy single "Shake Ya Ass," when they urge, "Show me whatcha' workin' with."
At the 2005 Grammy Awards, the power trio of Usher, Lil Jon and Ludacris won the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "Yeah!" But, will the song bring the same sort of fortune to this girl group at Nationals? Or will the glory all belong to New Directions this time? Gleeks will still have to wait a few more days to find out.
The "Glee" season finale airs Tuesday at 9 p.m. on Fox, while "Glee": The Music, Volume 6, including the three new original songs "Light Up the World," "Pretending" and "As Long as You're There," will be available on Monday.
What do you think of this a cappella group's version of "Yeah!"? Let us know in the comments section below!

Reworked tune features an opening verse by Minaj as Ke$ha sings atop Spears' vocals throughout the song.

Britney Spears' "Til The World Ends"

Britney Spears isn't the only pop titan dancing until the world ends: Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha have joined forces to add a new spin on an all-female remix of Femme Fatale's second single, "Till the World Ends."
The reworked dance anthem, which leaked online Friday (April 22), appears to have surfaced earlier than expected as noted by a series of countdowns on all three of the stars' websites.
Mixing the dance tune's original sonic swirls with heavier bass, Britney tourmate Minaj starts off the remix by throwing down an aggressive verse, in which she calls out a female hater: "A-A-A-A-A-AYE!/ Chimpanzees is hatin', but I take it all in stride/ Put her in a jungle with bananas on the side/ Told you they'd revive your career, but somebody lied/ I ain't talkin' poultry when I say this chicken's fried."
After Minaj spits a few introductory bars, Spears delivers the song's first verse before an introduction for the all-star trio. "It's Britney, bitch. I'm Nicki Minaj and that's Ke$ha!" the Young Money MC proclaims.
Ke$ha, who originally wrote the track for the pop princess, takes part in singing the club-ready track's chorus. Spears soon takes back control of the song as Ke$ha shadows the singer's lines toward the end of the second verse and bridge. Unlike the original version, the "Till the World Ends" remix also features a stuttering dubstep dance break.
News of a star-studded collaboration was hinted earlier this week when producer Dr. Luke tweeted, "@NICKIMINAJ killed it tonight!!!! thanks!!!"

Stocking up on a cartful of goodies, Adam Lambert paid a visit to his local Whole Foods in Los Angeles, California on Friday afternoon (October 7).
The "For Your Entertainment" hitmaker was decked out in a grey and black ensemble as he flashed the peace sign while loading his household purchases into the trunk of his sleek Ford Mustang GT.
The outing comes as more details have emerged regarding Lambert's upcoming appearance on the new kid's music show "Majors & Minors" - though his episode's air date is yet to be revealed.
Of the 29-year-old's turn on the program which follows twelve young performers as they develop their unique skills, show mentor Evan Bogart recently told THR, "[Adam] specifically wanted to work with the kids on stage presence and delivering the right performance."
Bogart added, "Even when you're not the person singing, what you're doing, how you're interacting with other people on stage, how you're being a part of it when you're not the center of attention. And then when you are the center of attention, how you grab that, run with it, and then pass it off.?
