Princess Beatrice's Wacky Hat Sells on EBay

Princess Beatrice's Wacky Hat Sells on EBay

Remember the laughs -- and gasps -- that greeted Princess Beatrice when she showed up for the royal wedding wearing that, well, unusual hat? Well now the young royal is getting the last laugh.

Beatrice, 22, put the blush-colored "fascinator" up for auction on eBay, and it's now been snapped up by an anonymous bidder -- for $130,000! According to People, the princess is donating the cash to two charities: UNICEF and Children in Crisis, the later of which was started by Beatrice's mother Sarah Ferguson (a.k.a. "Fergie," the Duchess of York)  to provide education to children in some of the world's poorest countries.

"It has its own personality," Beatrice said of her head-topper after the sale ended. "And I am so happy that we have raised the most incredible amount of money and can make an even bigger change for the lives of some of the most vulnerable children across the world."

For the April 29 wedding of her cousin Prince William to Kate Middleton, Beatrice completed her outfit with the topper made by renowned London milliner Philip Treacy. The hat was so unusual that it instantly grabbed headlines, endless commentary and a number of Facebook fan pages, including ones that compared or combined pictures of the headpiece with images of a uterus, a pretzel, an octopus, an antelope, a moose and a reindeer. One fan page jokingly gave the hat credit for killing Osama bin Laden.

Treacy, whose creations can cost about $3,300, also made the electric blue number Beatrice's sister Princess Eugenie wore to the wedding -- and he says he made both hats without any royal input. "No, they didn't tell me (what they wanted) because I've known them for a long time, and I wanted them to look gorgeous and beautiful," he told HollywoodLife.com. "They trusted me to make them. Gorgeous and beautiful can be open to interpretation. My inspiration was beauty and elegance."

Well whatever his inspiration, the resulting creation turned out to have an ending perfect for a princess: happily ever after.

Justin Bieber Responds To Marg Helgenberger Calling Him 'A Brat'

'It's kinda lame when someone you met briefly comments on you,' he tweeted after 'CSI' star's interview.

Justin Bieber apparently reads what people say about him. On Monday (May 9), he took to Twitter to react to comments by "CSI" star Marg Helgenberger, who called him a "brat."

"I probably shouldn't say this, but he was kind of a brat," Helgenberger said in an interview with French radio show Le Grand Direct des Medias on Friday when asked about the teen phenom's time on the set.

She continued, offering specific examples from when Bieber filmed guest appearances on "CSI." "He locked one of the producers in a closet," she said. "And he put his fist through a cake that was on the craft services table."

Bieber's response? "It's kinda lame when someone you met briefly and never worked with comments on you. I will continue to wish them luck and be kind. #killemwithkindness," he wrote. "Even last week they had me scolded on a plane in the news because i wasnt in my seat fast enough. She was right and i sat down. That's news? I know who i am and sometimes people r just going 2 say what they want. Keep ur head up and be the man ur mama raised. #killemwithkindness.

"Rumors are just that ... rumors," Bieber continued. "In the end if you just be kind and be yourself people will know who you are. That goes for anyone i think. as for now ... we are in the JUNGLE!! Dont spread gossip and dont spread rumors about others ... im a kid and i know that. #respect."

He then tweeted a link to a video clip of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" from "The Lion King."

Reps for both Bieber and "CSI" had not responded to MTV News' request for comment by press time.

MTV News spoke to "CSI" producer Carol Mendelsohn last year, after Bieber had taped his first appearance on the show. (He appeared again earlier this year.) She had only kind words about the actor.

"I thought that he did a really good job. We only had Justin for a day, for 10 and a half hours, and he had a lot of work crammed into those 10 and a half hours," she said, adding, "It's hard for any accomplished, mature actor to come on the set and fall right into character and do your work, so kudos to Justin."

Russell Brand's past just keeps catching up with him. No, we're not talking about his critically panned remake of "Arthur," but rather his bad-boy days before he cleaned up his act, rebooted his career and married pop queen Katy Perry.

According to tweets from Perry, Brand was held in custody by Japanese authorities on Saturday before later being deported from the country as a result of unspecified offenses from a decade ago.

Brand had flown to Japan to watch Perry perform a show, and the singer provided updates to fans about her hubby's legal problems. "So ... my husband just got deported from Japan," Perry tweeted on Saturday afternoon. "I am so. sad. I brought him all this way to show him my favorite place #tokyodreamscrushed."

About an hour later she updated the situation and said that Brand was sent packing for "priors from over 10 years ago!" She did not specify what those prior offenses were. Brand, a self-professed former sex and drug addict, has a long history of arrests in England, as well as a 2010 arrest for attacking a paparazzo at Los Angeles International Airport.

Despite the international incident, Perry told her fans she had no ill will toward Japanese authorities. "But of COURSE I ♥ my Japanese fans & the show #MUSTGOON no matter the daily aftershocks or husband kidnappings! #it'snotrightbutit'soka."

Brand also kept his chin up and brushed off the incident in his usual self-deprecating manner. "Planning escape from Japanese custody. It's bloody hard to dig a tunnel with a chopstick," he tweeted after his deportation on Sunday, noting soon after that "Stockholm Syndrome kicking in. Just asked my guard out for (vegetarian) sushi. He giggled."

Once the ordeal was over, Brand added, "Alcatraz! Shawshank Redemption! And now this! Ah, sweet blue bird of freedom!" According to reports, Tokyo immigration officials declined to comment on the incident, citing privacy issues.

Lady Gaga Beats Oprah On Forbes Celebrity 100 List

Lady Gaga has had a good year. The evidence is pretty obvious: She's sold millions of albums and downloads, headlined a major world tour, made the cover of nearly every magazine and recorded one of the most anticipated albums in ages.

But what really says you're having the best year ever? Leaping over Oprah Winfrey on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list in the same year that the Queen of All Media launched a new network and wound down the most popular daytime talker in the history of the medium.

Lady Gaga topped the list released by Forbes on Wednesday, leaping four spots from last year on the ranking of entertainment industry power, fueled by earnings, media visibility and social media popularity. It's only the third time in seven years that anyone has moved past Winfrey on the list, and Gaga did it by earning $90 million from her Monster Ball tour, rolling up 32 million Facebook fans and becoming the first star to corral 10 million Twitter followers.

All those Little Monsters helped her sell 1 million digital downloads of the title track from the just-leaked Born This Way in five days. They also bought MAC makeup, Monster headphones and Virgin Mobile phones that were endorsed by Gaga (and featured in her videos). Her Monster Ball tour grossed $170 million from 137 shows; she's sold 15 million albums worldwide and has endorsement deals with Polaroid, Monster Cable and PlentyofFish.com. Also, a Russian billionaire reportedly paid $1 million to appear in the "Alejandro" video.

"Lady Gaga beat Oprah this year because of her social media power. She can use Twitter and Facebook to work the 'little monsters' into a frenzy that leads to record sales and media attention," Forbes editor Dorothy Pomerantz told Reuters. "She's the best example of how celebrities will need to manage their careers in the coming years."

With her syndicated "The Oprah Winfrey Show" ending its legendary run next week after 25 years, Winfrey didn't fall far to #2, thanks to estimated earnings of $290 million. Her wealth came in as a result of the fees from her show, as well as the programs from the stars she's created, including Rachel Ray and Dr. Oz.

Justin Bieber is the youngest person on the list, debuting on the tally at an impressive #3, courtesy of an estimated $53 million in earnings from concerts (which bring in $600,000 a night), music sales and the "Never Say Never" movie, which grossed close to $100 million at the global box office and is now out on DVD.

Irish rock legends U2 are at #4 with $195 million, mostly due to their 360 Tour, which became the highest-grossing tour in history last year, with estimated grosses of $700 million by the time it wraps up this summer.

At #5 is Sir Elton John, who grossed $204 million for 102 concerts over the past year. Rounding out the top 10 are disgraced golfer Tiger Woods, Taylor Swift, veteran Jersey rockers Bon Jovi, "X Factor" boss Simon Cowell and Miami Heat star LeBron James.

Other notables: Angelina Jolie (#11), list newcomer Katy Perry (#12), Johnny Depp (#13), Leonardo DiCaprio (#15), the Black Eyed Peas (#16), "American Idol" host and media mogul Ryan Seacrest (#24), former TV star Charlie Sheen (#28), Beyoncé (#29), Usher (#32), Muse (#34), Jay-Z (#38), "Idol" judge Jennifer Lopez (#50), Diddy (#52), Robert Pattinson (#53), Kristen Stewart (#63), Eminem (#71), Kanye West (#76) and Lil Wayne (#85).
