Chris Cornell Filling In For Robert Plant On Led Zeppelin Tour? That's News To Him

'I have not been approached to fill in for Robert Plant on the Zeppelin tour, but that isn't to say I won't be,' singer says.

Former Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell has spoken out for the first time about rumors that he's been asked to fill in for Robert Plant on a proposed Led Zeppelin reunion tour. The trek would feature original guitarist Jimmy Page, original bassist John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham taking over on drums for his late father, John Bonham.

Cornell has been mentioned — along with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar, White Stripes mastermind Jack White and Alter Bridge's Myles Kennedy — as a potential Plant fill-in. Plant has already said that he wouldn't take part in the tour.

"I have not been approached so far to fill in for Robert Plant on the upcoming Zeppelin tour, but that isn't to say I won't be," Cornell told MTV News. "I've heard that from about 200 people now, and it might be one of those situations where it's just an online rumor or it might be true. But if you see anyone from Led Zeppelin around, let me know. I think I should actually fill in for Jimmy Page on the Robert Plant/ Alison Krauss tour."

Cornell's denial comes just a day after Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford confirmed reports that frontman Steven Tyler recently met with Zeppelin for an impromptu jam session. "They did it for fun," Whitford said during an appearance on the syndicated show "Todd N Tyler Radio Empire." "I actually think Jimmy wanted Steven to come over and play a little bit because I think he was trying to light a fire under Robert."

Rumors of a Zeppelin reunion tour have abounded since the iconic band played a single reunion set last year at London's O2 Arena. Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider added fuel to the fire last month when he revealed that the group was thinking of touring, with or without Plant.

According to Snider, the rest of the band told Plant, " 'We're all rehearsed, we're ready to go. Here's a gazillion dollars on the table. If you don't do it, we're going out with this kid [Myles Kennedy].' "

"And he can sing the sh-- out of Zeppelin," Snider added. "They're going to hope that Robert, at the last minute, will go, 'OK,' and step in."

In a recent interview, Jones told BBC Radio Devon that a new singer was being sought to take over for Plant. "We are trying out a couple of singers," he said. "We want to do it. It's sounding great, and we want to get on and get out there."

But Jones insists that he, Page and Bonham aren't interested in finding a Plant clone. "It's got to be right," he said. "There's no point in just finding another Robert. You could get that out of a tribute band, but we don't want to be our own tribute band. There would be a record and a tour, but everyone has to be onboard."

Of course, even if Zeppelin were to approach him, Cornell might be too busy to take over vocals for the band. His upcoming Timbaland-produced solo LP, Scream, will be released within the next few months. Cornell told MTV News last month that some of his fans might consider Scream something of a departure, but he doesn't see it that way.

"It makes me happy that there's this perception that I have a group of fans that I'm now sort of throwing a curve at and what their reaction will be," he said. "But I've been in this situation so many times already. When I put out [1999's] Euphoria Morning, my main goal was to create an album that sounded like nothing I'd done in Soundgarden, and I did that. I also had that with Temple of the Dog, where I showed up with songs that weren't necessarily riff-based. And then, of course, the pairing of me and members of Rage Against the Machine had everyone sort of speculating about what that would sound like.

"It feels like I've done this so many times that when it's presented to me as being a departure, I feel that's a misconception," he added. "I feel like that's my theme at this point."

Michael Jackson Doctor Pleads Not Guilty To Involuntary Manslaughter

Conrad Murray's trial slated to start March 28.

Michael Jackson's former personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray entered a plea of not guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter in the June 2009 death of the pop star at his arraignment on Tuesday morning (January 25).

According to the Los Angeles Times, when asked by judge Michael Pastor how he pleaded to the charge, Murray said, "Your honor, I am an innocent man." When Pastor interrupted and asked Murray what his plea was, the cardiologist said, "Therefore, I plead not guilty."

The brief hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court ended with Pastor setting a March 28 date for the start of a trial in the case. Murray faces a maximum of four years in prison if convicted, and the Times noted that he surprised the judge by invoking his right to a speedy trial, which meant the case would have to begin by late March. Pastor noted the rarity of a defendant asking to have a speedy trial, then set jury selection for the week of March 28 and said he was inclined to allow television coverage of the trial that the defense expects will last two months.

Lawyers for Murray have maintained his innocence all along, saying he did not do anything that "should have" caused the 50-year-old pop icon's death. The Los Angeles County Coroner's office determined that Jackson died of an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol mixed with a cocktail of other sedatives.

Murray has admitted to administering propofol to Jackson in the hours before the singer's death, but the defense appears to be gearing up to claim that it was Jackson who administered the final, fatal dose of the drug after he woke in a panic from a fitful night of sleep.

During a preliminary hearing earlier this month to determine if there was enough evidence to hold Murray over for trial, the physician's attorneys said that there was evidence Jackson injected or drank a fatal amount of the drug when the doctor was not looking.

Khloe Kardashian: Kim Is Going to Be a Bridezilla!

Khloe Kardashian: Kim Is Going to Be a Bridezilla!

While the Kardashian clan is gearing up for Kim Kardashian's wedding to fiance Kris Humphries, youngest sister Khloe says she's slightly concerned with how the planning is all going to go down.

"I'm looking forward to being in the wedding," the Khloe and Lamar star, 26, told People. "I don't want to help because Kim is going to be such a bridezilla! If I do one thing wrong, I'll be screwed! But I would love to be in the wedding."

Hopefully, both Khloe and older sister Kourtney will be standing by Kim's side when she takes the plunge -- or else war will surely break out. When Khloe married Lamar Odom last year, she made sure the duties were split between Kim and Kourt.

"[They] were both my maids of honor," Khloe said, "So [Kim] has to do the same for us."

So far, Kim hasn't revealed much about her wedding plans, but Khloe says one thing is for sure: this party is going to be an extravaganza!

"People keep asking us, 'When is it?' She doesn't know," Khloe says. "But you know, Kim goes big. It's not going to be small. And I joke and I say it will be like the Royal Wedding, because she is just like that."

As for the soon-to-be addition to the Kardashian family, Khloe says the family only recently got to hang out (and make videos!) with Humphries, but they already love him! And it certainly helps that he's a professional basketball player just like Khloe's LA Lakers hubby -- Humphries plays for the New Jersey Nets.

Still, Khloe says what Kris does for a living isn't a factor. It's really all about the smile on Kim's face and "if she's happy. Whether he's an NBA player, a fireman, a policeman, whatever it may be, As long as she's happy."

Kreayshawn Says Record Label Told Her: 'Do You'

'They were like, 'We want to do exactly what you've been doing,' ' the 'Gucci Gucci' femcee tells MTV News of why she inked with Columbia.
By Steven Roberts

A month ago Kreayshawn was the girl "cooking" and partaking in other recreational activities with Lil B the Based God in a random online video (they're listening to Soulja Boy's "Dat Piff," naturally). And honestly, unless you were from the Bay Area, hung out around Fairfax in Los Angeles or had your finger on the pulse of underground hip-hop, you probably didn't know her name. That quickly changed about four weeks ago when she dropped the video for her song "Gucci Gucci."

The video featured the pint-size, Bay Area rapper performing alongside Odd Future's Left Brain, Jasper Dolphin and many of their friends, at OF's stomping grounds on L.A.'s Fairfax Avenue. At a house party, she's seen rapping about the swag dripping out her "ovaries." The video soon made her an instant sensation on several blogs and eventually earned the interest of several record labels.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Kreayshawn had signed with Columbia Records. MTV News caught up with one-third of the White Girl Mob on Thursday afternoon, and she said the deal offered her an incredible amount of artistic freedom, which she was already enjoying.

"Columbia was the best because they were like, 'We want to do exactly what you've been doing.' I've been directing music videos, so they're like, 'We want you to keep doing that.' I do a little graphic design, and they had me make my logo. The music that I'm making — 'Gucci Gucci' — [is] going to be the single that they push," Kreayshawn told us.

The femcee also said she's conscious that some have already pegged her as a viral, one-hit wonder, but promised she has a lot more to offer. Still, she admitted, it can be frustrating to have critics put her in a box. There's a lot of Kreayshawn material — beyond her 2010 mixtape Kittys x Choppas — the public hasn't heard yet.

On the flip side, the MC is enjoying the love from fans. The best part of the recent music industry whirlwind, Kreayshawn said, is how organically her early success has unfolded.

"We never made the ['Gucci Gucci'] video with the intention of anything. We knew it was a great song, we knew that the video [was] going to be dope. We didn't put it out like we knew this was secretly going to launch everything, because everything was organic."

What do you think of Kreayshawn? Sound off in our comments section!

Justin Bieber, Chris Brown's 'Next 2 U' Video Leaks

Early cut of clip depicts dramatic love stories for both singers intertwined with apocalyptic theme.

Director Colin Tilley promised that the video for Chris Brown and Justin Bieber's "Next 2 U" would be "big," and a leaked early cut of the video is just that.

The whole thing plays out like a movie, complete with dialogue, drama, lots of action, and of course, singing and dancing. It opens with Brown and his love interest dancing, kissing and joking around with one another. Justin Bieber is then seen hugging and kissing his girlfriend and telling her, "I've been waiting for you all day," before presenting her with a necklace. Things get dark when the pair are caught together by her dad, who then takes her away.

"I told you not to see him again," he tells his daughter. Bieber's story is intercut with Brown's. Brown is dreaming of his girl when he looks outside and sees that the world appears to be ending around them. Cars are exploding and people are running around in a panic.

As the destruction continues, Brown stands in the street singing the love song. Meanwhile, Bieber stands on a rooftop, pining for his lady, also singing the tune.

More shots of each of the happy couples play as reminders of times when things weren't so uncertain. Viewers are reminded of the destruction by the song's lyrics, "One day when the sky is falling/ I'll be standing right next to you/ Right next to you." The couples do eventually make their way back to one another, but it's not all peachy keen when they do. Just as Brown finally meets up with his love interest after running through the streets, she's hit by a car.

As the video closes out, a big dance break takes place as Bieber's lady runs around trying to find him. They meet up on the roof where he was singing, and it appears that both couples will somehow survive their tragedies.

Before the video leaked, Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, seemed confident that fans wouldn't be disappointed by the clip. He tweeted, "Just saw a rough cut of the #NEXT2YOU video with @justinbieber and @chrisbrown ! @ColinTilley is goin' in!!"

What do you think of the rough cut of Bieber and Brown's "Next 2 U" video? Tell us in the comments.

'Super 8' Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need To Know

We recap the mystery surrounding the project before you learn the mystery within.
By Eric Ditzian

Almost exactly one year to the day that J.J. Abrams' rebooted "Star Trek" hit theaters, rumors started to circulate in May 2010 that the director had already shot a theatrical trailer, to run in front of "Iron Man 2," for a secret new project called "Super 8." While the film seemed to have a connection to the Abrams-produced alien-disaster flick "Cloverfield," we soon learned that wasn't true. Instead, the film was an original tale, produced by Steven Spielberg and having something to do with an escaped creature from Area 51, the mysterious government site long suspected to be involved in alien experimentation.

But that's about all we'd find out for a while. Over time, though, we began to put together the pieces. And eventually, Abrams himself started to dole out info about the movie. But we're getting ahead of ourselves. Let's flash back in time with an MTV News cheat sheet before we can truly say we know everything there is to know about "Super 8."

The Explosion
The teaser trailer arrived, as rumored, in May. It featured a fiery train crash and the unseen presence of the mysterious creature. Sources connected to the film said the story would focus on a group of small-town kids in 1979 who begin filming a home movie on a Super 8 camera, only to capture the crash and the emergence of the creature. At this point, though, production on the flick hadn't even begun.

The shoot kicked off in September. By that point, Abrams had cast a collection of unknown young actors, plus Elle Fanning ("Somewhere"), to play his featured kids, as well as Kyle Chandler ("Friday Night Lights") to portray the town sheriff and central boy's father. That's about all we knew. The next month, all "Cloverfield" director Matt Reeves would tell us was that the film "is very, very intimately connected to an aspect of [Abrams'] childhood and to this idea of Super 8 [films]."

The Dust Settles
By February of this year, as Abrams got set to debut a "Super 8" Super Bowl ad and a full trailer, the director finally began to open up about the project, albeit reluctantly. "To me, all people need to know is that it's an adventure about a small town and it's funny, it's sweet, it's scary and there's a mystery: What is this thing that has escaped? What are the ramifications of its presence? And what is the effect on people?" Abrams explained to the Los Angeles Times. "But I know that's not enough. Look, I feel we need a little bit of a coming-out party because we are up against massive franchises and brands and most people don't know what 'Super 8' means. We're a complete anomaly in a summer of huge films ... and we don't want to be so silent or coy that people don't care or don't hear about it."

Then in April, we caught up with Abrams himself, as the helmer was putting the finishing touches on the film's score. In a long-ranging conversation, he touched on the Spielbergian influences in "Super 8" that so many observers had noticed. "He's a real producer of this movie," Abrams said. "He worked with me to develop the story. We had countless story meetings prior to and following the script. What was wonderful about working with him is the ongoing conversation. Because I was working with him, I felt free to allow the influences of his films to rise to the surface."

Seeing Clearly
With "Super 8" just days away from release, we debuted an exclusive clip at the MTV Movie Awards — one that began with a close look at the train crash and segued into a mini-trailer. Abrams, Spielberg and the kids were on hand at the show to introduce the footage. It wasn't the first time we met them face to face. At a press event in May, the kids took us behind the scenes of that epic train crash and tried to explain what the film was all about without giving away the secret.

And then on Wednesday evening in Los Angeles at the film's red-carpet premiere, the cast had fun laughing off some of the wackiest theories they've heard about the mysterious creature at the heart of "Super 8." "I've seen on IMDb that a lot of people thought it was a giant lion," co-star Zach Mills said. "I don't know why. That's the craziest thing I've heard."

Check out everything we've got on "Super 8."

Beyonce Does The Math On New '1 1' Track

Singer debuted the dreamy love song from her forthcoming 4 album on Wednesday night's 'American Idol' finale.

Beyoncé may not know a thing about algebra, but when it comes to the math of power ballads, she totally gets it. On Wednesday night, Beyoncé premiered her new track "1+1" during her performance on "American Idol."

After changing into a gown following her medley performance with former "Idol" contestants, B was up on the stage surrounded by soft red mood lighting and smoke, slowing things down a bit and proclaiming her love for that special someone in song. The lyrics make sweeping statements about the power of her relationship.

She sings, "Hey! I don't know much about guns but I ... I've been shot by you/ Hey! And I don't know when I'm gonna die, but I hope that I'm gonna die by you/ Hey! And I don't know much about fighting, but I, I know I will fight for you/ Hey! Just when I ball up my fist, I realize that I'm laying right next to you."

The song is the second officially released single from her album 4, which hits stores on June 28. On Wednesday, Beyoncé revealed the full track listing for 4.

"1+1" opens the album and is one of 12 songs. The remaining 11 are: "I Care," "I Miss You," "Best Thing I Never Had," "Party" (featuring Andre 3000), "Rather Die Young," "Start Over," "Love on Top," "Countdown," the recently leaked "End of Time," "I Was Here" and the album's lead-off single, "Run the World (Girls)."
