Justin Bieber Tackled by Undercover Cop at Macy's

Justin Bieber Tackled by Undercover Cop at Macy's

What kind of monster would attack Justin Bieber? It's like attacking a baby bunny or a cute little kitten! As it turns out, a plainclothes police officer concerned for the singer's safety would.

On Thursday, ABC News reported that Bieber had been jumped by an unidentified male while greeting fans outside the iconic Herald Square Macy's in New York City. But police now tell TMZ that the man who climbed over a metal barrier and tackled Biebs was an undercover cop who thought the singer was in danger of being trampled by the frantic crowd.

Here's what went down: At Macy's to promote the launch of his new fragrance, Someday, Bieber was outside greeting the crowd of around 100 fans (most of whom hadn't gotten tickets to the in-store event), when a man jumped the barrier and knocked him to the ground. One of Bieber's security guards quickly intervened, pulling the man off the singer.

According to the police, the man immediately identified himself as an undercover officer, but one of Justin's security guards wasn't convinced. The guard wouldn't back down, and so police took him into custody and cited him for disorderly conduct.

Things have been straightened out now, though, and Bieber doesn't seem to be sweating the incident much. As his rep told People, "This was a momentary, well-intentioned misunderstanding that was quickly resolved, and the event went very well."

Beyonce Does The Math On New '1 1' Track

Singer debuted the dreamy love song from her forthcoming 4 album on Wednesday night's 'American Idol' finale.

Beyoncé may not know a thing about algebra, but when it comes to the math of power ballads, she totally gets it. On Wednesday night, Beyoncé premiered her new track "1+1" during her performance on "American Idol."

After changing into a gown following her medley performance with former "Idol" contestants, B was up on the stage surrounded by soft red mood lighting and smoke, slowing things down a bit and proclaiming her love for that special someone in song. The lyrics make sweeping statements about the power of her relationship.

She sings, "Hey! I don't know much about guns but I ... I've been shot by you/ Hey! And I don't know when I'm gonna die, but I hope that I'm gonna die by you/ Hey! And I don't know much about fighting, but I, I know I will fight for you/ Hey! Just when I ball up my fist, I realize that I'm laying right next to you."

The song is the second officially released single from her album 4, which hits stores on June 28. On Wednesday, Beyoncé revealed the full track listing for 4.

"1+1" opens the album and is one of 12 songs. The remaining 11 are: "I Care," "I Miss You," "Best Thing I Never Had," "Party" (featuring Andre 3000), "Rather Die Young," "Start Over," "Love on Top," "Countdown," the recently leaked "End of Time," "I Was Here" and the album's lead-off single, "Run the World (Girls)."

Pottermore: Our Top-Five Wish List For J.K. Rowling's New Site

'Harry Potter' author's site is still cloaked in mystery, but there are a few things we'd like to see on her Web creation.

There's a lot of "Harry Potter"-related excitement going around these days, what with the release of the eighth and final film, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" in just a few weeks, and our own Harry Potter World Cup heating up. And on Thursday morning (June 23) in London, "Potter" creator J.K. Rowling made an official announcement about the mysterious "Pottermore" project she introduced last week.

Pottermore.com will deliver a free, online reading experience including, according to a press release, "extensive new material about the characters, places and objects in the much-loved stories" and a digital capability in which "the storyline will be brought to life with sumptuous newly commissioned illustrations and interactive 'Moments' through which you can navigate."

"[It's] a way I can be creative in a medium that didn't exist when I started the books back in 1990," Rowling told reporters during the press conference.

Vote in the Harry Potter World Cup here!

That's exciting stuff for "Potter" fans, considering the books have long since been completed and the final film hits theaters this summer. But at this point, with no Muggle having yet explored the site, we don't know exactly what Pottermore will offer. Here are five things we hope we can see and do while playing in Rowling's latest fantastical creation — now or in the future.

Open Class/Character Development System

No matter your house, heritage or O.W.L. scores, with the appropriate amount of training or playing time, you too can become an esteemed member of the wizarding community. No matter how basic or inexperienced you are when you begin exploring "Pottermore," there should be opportunities for advancement and/or shifting skill sets. If you want to be an animagus, an auror, a healer, or even a professional Quidditch player, you need only put in the time.

Quidditch

Speaking of professional Quidditch players, there ought to be a recreational area in "Pottermore" where characters learn, play and eventually compete against one another at the hugely popular game. Instead of pitting competitors and teams against one another based solely on their houses, it would be great for players to be able to assemble themselves into teams.

Virtual Place to Unwind, Be Entertained

One of the main reasons Rowling's masterworks have so many millions of fans is because she's created a world so magical and alluring that we all dream of apparating into the Three Broomsticks for a butterbeer or taking a walk through Weasley's Wizard Wheezes. It would be great if Pottermore featured a competition-free area for socializing in and around virtual versions of Rowling's most beloved fictional shops and assorted hotspots.

Annual "Pottermore" Gatherings

Although Universal's Wizarding World of Harry Potter is currently a perfect place to mix and mingle with fellow Potterphiles, we would love an annual event in the vein of GenCon or Comic-Con, where fans from all over the world meet to share in everything Harry Potter. In addition to pointed panel discussions on a variety of subjects, why not also host a few live action duels in the spirit of the tri-wizard tournament? Maybe an attempt at a grounded game of Quidditch or two?

Special Guest Stars And/Or Participants

It's nearly impossible to assemble the entire "Harry Potter" film casts for "Pottermore" participation, but perhaps before they all move on from their Potter associations, the actors can record special interactive greetings and messages, to be carefully placed throughout "Pottermore"? Maybe Daniel Radcliffe and company can pre-record video messages of encouragement for players? Alan Rickman could instruct a brief beginner-level Defense Against the Dark Arts Class? We'll even settle for video clips from the movies popping up every now and again. Also, if Rowling is taking the time to make this special announcement, we're hoping she's going to stay involved enough that she'll consider recording some messages as well.

So what did we miss? What do you want from Pottermore? Tell us in the comments!

Check out everything we've got on "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2."

Usher Says New 'Rev Pop' Project Is A 'Movement'

Singer teases his new project by pointing to past hits like 'Yeah!' and 'OMG.'
By James Montgomery

With the success of songs like "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love," "Hot Tottie" and "OMG," Usher had himself a fairly massive 2010. But rather than rest on his laurels, he's looking to build on his big year, not with an album, but with a "movement."

It's something he's calling "Rev Pop" — or, simply, "Rev" — and though he's already teased his idea in a video with David Guetta (Akon is also involved), he has yet to speak in full about it. So when MTV News caught up with Ush before the 53rd annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles at the (Belvedere) RED launch party, we asked him about his next musical endeavor. And though he didn't reveal much, he did let it be known that "Rev" isn't exactly something new. In fact, he's been doing it for a while now.

"I'll give it to you this way: At a later date, I'll tell you more about Rev Pop, but if I were to give you a flash: I've done it before, I did it with 'Yeah!' " he said, "taking a cultural experience, and also worldwide recognition of a feeling, and putting the soul in the middle of it. Not allowing it to shift heavily to R&B genre, or pop. I did it again with 'OMG,' once again putting the soul in the middle of it, which was an electric-pop experience, with the soul.

"It's bringing those elements together to tell a story, that was born here," he said, gesturing toward his heart, "And that's what Rev Pop is. There's more, I mean, I could really elaborate, but that's just what I'm going to tell you right now. 'Rev' is what it's called ... the movement is called Rev."

Usher wouldn't say just when his fans would be getting their first taste of Rev, but whenever they do, it sounds like they're going to be impressed ... if not a little shocked.

"Stay alive," he smiled, "Because you're definitely going to be in for a surprise."

Pink Sells First Baby Photo for Charity

Pink Sells First Baby Photo for Charity

Now that Pink has a baby girl, she's trying to figure out how to shield 3-week-old daughter Willow from the stalkerazzi who prey on celebrity moms. In a new post on her blog, the singer explains why selling her first baby photos to People magazine was, ironically, the best way to protect Willow's privacy.

The 31-year-old Grammy winner says that she and husband Carey Hart, 35, made the decision to release their private photos "due to the unsettling, surprisingly aggressive and unsafe measures that the paparazzi seem to be willing to go to in order to secure that 'first shot' of our daughter -- stalking us, chasing us in cars and sitting outside of our home all day and night." She writes that she wanted her little girl to be protected from media attention, "but unfortunately, this media climate doesn't seem to provide for that."

Pink discloses that she and Hart have donated all the money from the sale to children's charities, including the Ronald McDonald House and Autism Speaks. The singer goes on to express her frustration that there are no laws in place to protect the children of celebrities from being stalked by people with cameras.

"In EVERY other country that I recall, children's faces are blurred out in magazine photos," Pink declares. "Why is USA the only country that continues to financially incentivize intrusive paparazzi behavior to capitalize on photos of babies, infants and children? ... Why are celebrities/public figures having to seek restraining orders to keep strange grown men with still and video cameras from sitting perched outside of their children's pre-schools and elementary schools, preying on little innocent kids?" she asks.

"It's one thing to harass and stalk us, the adults, the celebrity that signed up for this life," she acknowledges, "but children should be protected and safe. There should be a clear distinction between us."

We've seen this same kind of frustration recently from other celebrity moms, including Tori Spelling (who got in a car accident after being chased to her children's preschool by a photographer) and Nicole Richie (who's been attempting to take legal measures against the paparazzi who target her children). Unfortunately, they have little recourse against the guerilla tactics of celebrity photographers. Now, Pink is trying a different tactic: appealing to her fans to stop supporting unlicensed photos of her family.

"We don't want our little girl's picture in a magazine or on a blog. If you take or publish her picture, it is against our wishes, and without our consent as parents, as people," Pink writes in a passionate plea to photographers and fans. "In the face of camera lenses as long as my arm and flashbulbs as bright as the sun, Willow is powerless. All she has to protect her is us. But that's not all she has; she has you."

Of course, the irony is that we look at celebrity baby photos because we like seeing our favorite celebs being adorable and happy with their children. It would be a perfectly innocent pastime, if photographers only respected the boundaries of the families who support their living. It definitely seems like some legal intervention is due.

In happier news, Pink and Carey seem to be doing great, and that first (licensed!) family photo could not be more adorable. "We are absolutely blissed out in love over here!" Pink writes on her blog. "Carey is a natural, (I knew he would be) and I finally found out what love really means. Don't worry, I'm not writing an album full of sappy lullabies. Not yet, anyways?"
